Corman: higher education a good investment for the Commonwealth

Corman, R-Centre, said the budget proposal, which passed through the senate on May 9, reflects current available revenue for the Commonwealth, leading to some changes and updates from the budget proposed by Gov. Tom Corbett in February. The bill, penned by the senate Republican majority, passed with a 39-8 vote and is currently up for discussion in the state house.

THON canning weekends to see changes

Instead of the usual four canning weekends that are held throughout the year, only three will be held, and they will all occur during the fall semester, according to a THON newsletter released Wednesday. The three canning weekends will take place on Sep. 28-30, Oct. 19-21 and Nov. 9-11.

Director: Sandusky scandal documentary in the works

In early November, when the news broke about charges of child sexual abuse that were filed against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, many media outlets came to Penn State to cover it. Alongside the journalists, a 1996 alumna and filmmaker, Kelly Dolak, came to make a film about the students' and the community's perspectives about the scandal and their experiences with the fallout.
